New Split Release: THE OL' REACH AROUND by Misled & Monday Morning Justice

Johannesburg punk rock veterans, Misled, have been on the quiet front for a few years now. Members growing their families, new members joining and moving on from a somewhat unexpected acoustic phase has left fans hungry for something familiar. Now with new members active on stage we have been enjoying Misled live again for the past 12 months or so but even all the changes and being busy on stage they have been busy with writing and as it were are dropping their first of a few tasty morsels we can expect this year. In this offering they are joined by punk rock newcomers, Monday Morning Justice, in a 10 track, as punk as it gets, Split!

The “Split” is a tradition as much part of the punk scene as staying in your parent’s spare room for most of your twenties. Both bands recorded at different studios and have completely different offering from the musical kaleidoscope that is punk rock. The album split entitled: “THE OL’ REACH AROUND” is available for download on the WE DID THIS RECORDS BANDCAMP Now and as always any donations are encouraged. If you like what you hear you can catch both bands going at it this coming weekend on the Teenage Bottlerocket tour in Johannesburg and Durban.

*This album dropped yesterday because Monday and stuff

10th March: All Age Show at Thrashers Skate Park, PTA

Mr Conley has been up to stuff. He is a good boy. As a result there is an all ages show happening in PTA march 10th. All ages shows are very few and far between nowadays so COME DOG FUCKING DAMN IT!!! You fucking fucks need to understand that youtube and netflix will not save you! There is no god and your primitive monkey asses gotta run around in a circle and lose your shoes like the homo sapiens did back in my day... BECAUSE REASONS!

"My friends ain't all that bad. We play all ages shows and we'll start on time if you decide to go"... - Bomb The Music Industry

...Oh look! Show info and mutterings below!

We Did This Records and Thrashers Skatepark present this thing that is happening. The Soweto Skate Society are going to be doing cool things (AKA a skate demo)... that is if you believe in a concept like "cool things" and have not been beaten down by life so much that "cool things" are nothing but childhood delusions and painful lies... I'm fine... really.

The skate park opens normal time and the demo will kick of at 14:00. It will go on, and of, throughout the day and to keep the skaters / non skaters minds out of the dark and scary places we will have people playing guitars at an above average tempo... which if non of you have realized should be the actual dictionary definition of awesome... after the show, and in the absence of above average tempo guitars, I recommend doing as little work as possible and watching Ren and Stimpy till you die...

Noise by The Slashdogs, Misled, Monday Morning Justice, TCIYF, Slippery When Wet, and All These Wasted Nuts.

Tickets at the door :
Under 18's R50
Over 18's R80
Over 18's with cooler R100

Merch will be available

So Misled Has A New Album Out And It Is Acoustic!

I was going to say that Facebook is responsible for the lack of content here but on second thought that would be untrue. I also forget to make posts on Facebook and then wonder why nobody shows up to shows or knows something is out... I will try to be better but there is no point in anyone holding their breath...

I was up all night making the flyer for the PTA launch show for the new Misled album, that is an acoustic release that compliments the previous albums pretty well, and remembered that this blog exists. Looking at this blog is quite anxiety inducing and it may as well have bold red letters shouting UPDATE ME!!! sprawled across it. Pushing those to the side however lets just talk about this new album and the two launch shows currently booked.

The new Misled release is an interesting result of the groups loss of a drummer and subsequent frustrations in search for a replacement. Adding a whole other dimension to the group this release is pretty exciting. The album name is Rolling Blackout and you can pick it up or stream it from out download page HERE!

The first show is the Pretoria leg on 9th April at Railways Cafe PTA, with support from ATWN.

Address: 2 Hack Road, Centurion, Gauteng. Show start: 21:00. Damage: R30.

The second one is April 16 at the Boh, with support from The Moths, The Deaf Commission, and All These Wasted Nuts (again)

.

Address: 167 Perth Road Westdene, Johannesburg, Show start: 7pm. Damage: R40.
***Better yet buy the new album for R100 and Misled will pay your cover charge***

Albums will be on sale both shows and Hugs are free of course. You can also again download the album from We Did This Records for free or a donation.

There are twelve tracks on the album.

See you all next time I venture back here...

DisCovering Incarnation EP (2006) by Misled

We have been itching to announce the addition of the Misled catalogue to We Did This! We kick it off with an upload of the DisCovering Incarnation EP originally released in 2006 courtesy of Sheer sound and Red Ambulance Records.

The band has toured SA extensively, performed at most major festivals, completed a German Tour under Roadshock management (Sept 2006), and performed at Popkomm (Berlin) representing South Africa and endorsed by SAMEX (The South African Music Export Council).

MiSLeD’s first release (a 13 track self titled DIY LP) hit the underground in early 2003 and represented the unrefined sound of the band. The record was released without ceremony and little was done to promote it. The next year and a half was spent writing and developing the pre-existing sound, and in June 2005, MiSLeD released their first official album: ‘The Demeaning Of Life’ recorded at Be Sharp Studios with engineering legend JP De Stefani behind the desk.

The album was released by indie label "Red Ambulance" (Along with acts such as Fuzigish, the Diesel whores, Half Price, and Japan and I) and in 2006 they followed up with their 7 track EP ‘DisCovering Incarnation’ which was widely distributed by Sheer Sound, along with the music video for the by no means radio friendly track 'Words that pave your way' (We even managed to get it played on E-TV's morning live breakfast show, although they cut it short soon after the screaming began). Ironically it was this unexpected success that almost destroyed MiSLeD...

By early 2007 the band was playing 7 gigs a month and it had started to feel more like a job than a passion project. More and more pressure was being put on the band to become a viable way to pay the bills, which just wasn't happening despite our sincerest efforts. Gradually frustration within the band rose and we lost sight of what our band was created for (namely as a creative outlet for four friends to share). As a result MiSLeD disbanded for a year until mid 2008 when we finally came to recognize this mistake and decided to return to our roots of playing for the sake of having a good time.

After a few rehearsals the band started working on new material straight away and in 2009 released the "Only the Blind can taste" EP. Two new music videos were shot and released shortly thereafter.

MiSLeD resumed gigging but the primary focus has become writing and recording new songs which culminated in the release of the 17 track album "Only the Deaf are Safe" in 2012.
